Poker Lexicon - Poker Terms Beginning With M
Made hand : A complete 5 card hand.
Main pot - The center pot. All other bets are put in a side pots or pots and are contested among the remaining players – this occurs when a player goes all in.
Make - To shuffle the deck.
Make A Move - To try a play ( mosty generally a bluff )
Maniac - A person who plays very aggressively regardless of his hand's value.
Mark - A sucker. Generally referring to someone who is the target of play rather than a random poor player.
Marker - A disc used to indicate that an absent player owes money to the table.
Marked cards - Cards that have been illegally altered so a player(s) know what they are.
Maverick - The name of a Queen and Jack in the pocket. Suited or otherwise.
Mechanic - A cheating player who manipulates the cards.
Meet - To meet is to call.
Micro-limit - Internet poker games with stakes so small that real cardrooms couldn't possibly profit from them, are said to be at the "micro-limit" level (e.g. 25˘-50˘ or lower).
Middle Pair - In flop games, when a player makes a pair with one of his/her down cards and the middle card on the flop.
Middle Position - Somewhere between the early and late positions on a round of betting (the fifth, sixth and seventh seats to the left of the button).
Minimum Buy-in - The least amount of money with which you can start a game.
Minnow - A player who over-extends his or her bankroll to play in a big game.
Miscall - An inaccurate verbal declaration regarding the ranking of a hand.
Misdeal - A mistake made when dealing the cards.
Miss - To miss your draw.
Missed blind - A required bet that is not bet when it is the player’s turn to do so.
Misread - Not realize the value of your hand, or overlook a possible winner. For example, in seven card stud, you may have been concentrating so hard on making a flush that you don't see that, while you missed the flush, you actually had a straight. You can also misread another player's hand.
Mites and lice - A hand consisting of two pair; threes over twos.
Mnemonics - Mental devices used to remember things. In Hold'em, often players have names for what pocket cards they have, like Big Slick or Maverick.
Money Management - An important part of poker life, The handling and control of money necessary to conduct a poker.
Monster - A very big hand. In a tournament, a player who begins to accumulate chips after having a small stack is considered to be a monster.
Montana Banana - 9-2 in the hole. Article 92 made Poker legal in Montana.
Monte Carlo - A specific type of Guts poker with three cards, including three-card Straights and Flushes.
Move In - To go all-in.
Motown - Jack Five in the hole.
Muck - To fold one's hand (typically at showdown time).
Multi-way pot - A pot contended by at least three poker players.
